•  Model railways and Korea?
I was just wondering if there any model railway exhibitions in South Korea? Model railway clubs? Are there many/any(!) model railway enthusiasts in South Korea? What about model railway suppliers based in Korea (or nearby, China, Japan, etc.)? Do you know any good model railways (anywhere) based on / set in Korea (South Korea or North Korea)? Any other related information welcomed. Thank you for your help. Nick :) Tags: model railways railway modelling / railway modeling
•  how do you buy a ticket for the train from Beijing to Hanoi in Beijing?
I found these instructions but the shop is no longer there “I finally got my ticket from a small pavement shop front office next to, and part of, the Railway Hotel, which is directly next to Beijing West as you face it. The only thing that gives it away as a ticket office is the A4 paper sign sellotaped to the front window - however this is in Chinese. There is also a phone number to ring if they are closed to find out ticket sale opening times. This office is four doors to the left of the main front doors of the Railway Hotel it also has a souvenir / poster shop next door to it so you cant really miss it. The women in the office does not speak English but has a tick sheet with questions and answers and you simply point to the correct answer, for example: Nationality, UK. It was really easy. They still insist inside the station that they do not sell tickets and that you have to go to the bank of China which is about a five minute walk past the “actual” ticket office. The bank I did try that web site but you can not buy tickets there at lest I can’t from my computer here in china http://www.dsvn.vn/BANGGIAVEA/ShowTTFare…
• Voting Question: Why can’t we go back to shipping goods by train if trucking is so expensive?
Years ago almost every city had a cable car running in the heart of town. Car and bus manufactures and tire manufacturers bought out the cable car manufacturers and shut them down. They did this to make cities buy their buses and tires. These same manufacturers started making trucks and suddenly the shipping of goods by rail went down dramatically. Lines were closed and railway companies went bankrupt. Why can’t we start using the rails again? China and India are expanding their railways as fast as they can. They are making their own rails with their steel mills producing the rails for it. Why can’t we start doing this again? There are no rail mills operating in the United States and Canada. We should be offering incentives for them to get going again. This would help with jobs, the economy, the environment, the gas shortage, etc.
•  What is the reason to boycott the 2008 Olympic, will it help or hurt human rights?
During this Lasha - Tibetan - China - Western Media drama, I keep asking myself, why the media only report one side of the story with very little evident, but ignore the facts with evidences on the other side. Is this the democracy we are seeking for? China opens its door and 13 billion friendly Chinese welcomes everyone from the world to join this great event. It is a great chance for the whole world to visit, and see a true China, how she has changed and improved include human right issues. Why protects, why media is making it so hard for all the friendly Westerners to visit China and to know China. Ask yourself, do you trust the people pointing the fingers more, or trust the people defending themselves more, or trusted the millions of 3rd party people use their own experiences to describe more? People can travel to Tibet freely to see how great it is. The recent built railway also let more foreigners to visit it during the game. Why protects which cause less ppl to go there.
